GP Services: The Trafalgar Surgery

We regret to inform you that on 23rd July 2025, the South East London Integrated Care Board (ICB) was notified of the sudden and unexpected passing of Dr. Maniani, who had served as the sole GP Partner at Trafalgar Surgery for many years. We understand this news may come as a shock to many who valued Dr. Maniani’s care and dedication over the years. Our thoughts are with her family and all those affected.

As the local NHS body responsible for Commissioning primary care services, South East London ICB has a statutory duty to ensure that patients registered at The Trafalgar Surgery continue to have access to GP care. This responsibility includes the ability to make a direct award to suitable providers when time does not allow for a standard procurement process. Consequently, from 31st July 2025, The North Southwark GP Federation, Quay Health Solutions Community Interest Company (QHS) was awarded an interim caretaking contract of the practice to continue to provide care for all registered patients. QHS is a local GP federation made up of experienced clinicians and healthcare professionals who will work closely with the staff team at The Trafalgar Surgery to ensure continuity of care during this interim period.

What does this mean for you as a patient?

As a patient, you do not need to take any action. There will be no changes to your registration or your access to GP care. Your medical records will remain at the practice, and you will continue to receive services as usual from the surgery. However, if at any time you wish to change your GP practice, you can find information about other local practices on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk. Please check that you live within the registration area of your chosen practice and then ask the practice staff to support you through the registration process.

If you require further information regarding other services available in your local area, please contact Healthwatch Southwark on 020 3848 6546 or visit www.healthwatchsouthwark.co.uk

For any questions about your healthcare, please continue to contact your practice directly in the usual way.

Yours faithfully,

Katherine Kavanagh
Associate Director for Primary and Community Based Care
South East London Integrated Care Board
